The Vision

Island Chapel on Upper Saranac Lake, Scottish traditions and bagpipes, bright, sunny summer gathering with vivid blooms and midsummer merry-making

The Floral And Fauna

Hydrangea blooms and beech branches, Vibrant blossoms and berries, Wild Center pond and wildflowers

The wedding week of Sara and Hunter was a true celebration of friends and family. From the Sunday before when I arrived for coffee at the bride’s home beeping my horn and yelling, “It’s wedding week!” to the Sunday farewell brunch, our days were filled with busy preparations and joyous gatherings.

As Perennia clients, Sara and Hunter were so easy to work with. Their clear vision and obvious love for each other made the details fall easily into place. The entire event was successful in telling their unique story, celebrating family traditions and involving friends in their special day.

The floral elements were bold and beautiful. Sara’s and her Bridesmaids’ bouquets were a glorious mix of orange gerbera daisies, bright blue bachelor buttons, yellow billy balls, peach hypericum berries, white babies breath, peony greens and lacy asparagus fern. To echo the bridal flowers; dusty miller, bachelor buttons and the same peach berries made up the rustic boutonnières worn by Hunter and his Groomsmen.

Two weeks before the wedding Sara sprained her ankle as she and Hunter were practicing their wedding dance. Sara’s dad Jim, lovingly wrapped her ankle on her wedding day and inscribed it with sweet words.

The ceremony on Chapel Island on Upper Saranac was filled with special surprises including the lilting strains of bagpipes greeting wedding guests as they arrived by boat. As a nod to the bride’s parents’ own wedding song, sung on the same date 33 years before, the groomsman serenaded the crowd with “When I’m 64” by the Beatles.

Surrounded by the natural beauty and peace of the Adirondacks, Sara and Hunter share a quiet moment on the bridge at the Wild Center. Soon they will be surrounded by delicious food, joyous dancing and much merry-making!
